Default Mini Me or Built Non-vtec

I am wondering for high RPM's is it better to build a Mini Me or built non-vtec?
I have to build with stock honda parts. My current motor is a d15 out of a 93 Civic LX. I am willing to build a motor on the side but I dont want to have to take it to a machine shop and add costs.

Well if you want power in the high rpms, it would be better to build an engine with a vtec head since it would flow better up top or just in general, but im not 100% sure how it is for D series.

For d-series engine non-vtec is the ONLY way to go. You can make big power on the non-vtec's compared to the vtec's. It's sounds backwards but it works.

You'll get gains using OEM parts but I don't think it will be anything to crazy.

The D16a6 has the best non-vtec cam
ZC pistons to raise compression

What are you trying to get out of this?

So a Z6 block ZC pistons a6 cam in a Z6 head would be the best combo???

NO, read what has been said. fuck........

Z6's are vtec heads. You can't use a non-vtec cam in a vtec head.

You really need to learn to read.

I'm sorry I was kinda confused. A a6 with zc pistons? I was thinking that the z6 was non vtec for some reason.

If I were you I would get a A6, put ZC pistons in it, I'm not sure what the compression ratio is, but depending on what it is maybe get a thinner head gasket. And then get a aftermarket cam. Then later down the road get a different intake and exhaust if you low on money. Just a suggestion.

And when you say you want high RPM's you'll need a cam and valve train upgrade.

Or try and get D17 internals and put them in a D16. Prolly more expensive though

this is pretty solid advice. The delta 272 regrinds are $100 or less and can be used with stock valvetrain if using stock redline. there a pretty badass cam.

A6 with ZC pistons is ~10.7:1.

hmmm i may be able to help you on the a6 part... i got one in one of my hondas in my yard and the rings are shot and the tranny kinda blew up on me (to much tokyo mud sliding in it) so its been a parts car.. its missing an alternator and a starter. aaaand the heater core coolant line going in. but all that is missing im pretty sure you can reuse on the car you got. pm me if you want it.. oh ya its dpfi =( so in that case you might wanna do dpfi to multi point

Bisi or Delta cam will do you some good if you're on a budget.
