Default what happens when you put diesel or e85 in an unleaded car

local gas station/tanker fucked up! so a lot of cars are idling irratically, stalling, "running lean," etc. i know it can fuck up your fuel system, maybe some sensors, and emissions. but can anyone be really really specific.

Diesel needs compression, so it would more than likely missfire or not even start at all. Best thing to do would be to siphon it out. If you didn't put much in, you could dilute it with more gasoline.

I'd also replace the fuel filter and spark plugs, then clean the injectors.

e85 will only eat away your seals if you let your car sit for a period of time. like a few months or so. as long as you keep the ethanol flowing it wont harm anything. (compared to gas though yes it does eat away seals over a long period of time)

if its e85 your car would be really boggy. because e85 has to pull 33.3% more fuel then gasoline. e85 is also a higher octane then gasoline i believe its 105-110 octane

diesel motors are all based on compression. diesel is also a very low octane and the vaporization is reduced. for lower octane then unleaded it will cause your motor to knock. if you have a knock sensor your computer will try to adjust the timing. which will eventually be bad. (rods/pistons you can say goodbye 2)

so in other words siphon that gas out right away especially if its diesel!!

here is my experiance with E85 back in 2006.

i was doing a road trip down to Missouri in my 2000 accord ex auto. I pulled up to 24hr prepay gas station in a smaller town. I looked at my choices and they had E85, 89, 92.
At that time I really didn't know what E85 was, I figured it was okay to use on the accord seeing it was waayyy cheaper....

Every time i pump gas I always reset my milage meter. I did not notice any difference in power, idel, drivablity.

I started to notice after I drove like 300 miles and the gas needle was only 1/2 way. Normally get about 225ish, so i knew something was off. I deceide to keep driving to about 430miles(on normal all hwy my accord normally does 450), then pumped regular 89oct.

Sure enough.... I ened up pumping a full 13 gal!
This time, though the needle/gauge still got stuck around 1/2 way mark.

It would take me about 4 full refills of reg gas before the fuel tank gauge/needle returned to normal.

So here is my thoughts..... I think E85 had something it in that keep my fuel sensor stuck or clogged.

But E85 on the accord was not a big deal. If I had to pump it again under emergency case, i would.

Diesel fuel is rated by its ignition quality which is cetane, not octane.
