Whats the stock b16 motor handle when bolting on a turbo? Whats a safe psi range to boost it without blowing it up??

the question is how much power can it handle. theres many variables.

300 whp is considered the generally safe range depending on how you drive and take care of the vehicle, which can usually be made at around 10 psi from a reasonably efficient setup, but both of those can vary based on many factors.

There are a couple of great links to follow if people took the time to browse our forums.

People wrote up a lot of great stuff and its shame it doesnt get looked at more often.

Here you have our main page for the website, look hard enough and you may find a forced induction forum

After you click on forced induction youll find all the threads under forced induction. Fancy that huh? Wait theres more. See the thread at the very top thats stickied? Maybe its stuck there for a reason. Lets click it and see what it contains.

Looks like it contains 2 links to very important forced induction basics and maybe even a reason why the op is very wrong for basing how long his engine will last based on PSI.

I wish you good luck.

Haha im not mad at you dont worry, repeating the same thing gets a bit tiring. Alot of questions can be answered by a simple search though.

Inspector has made a valid point, 300whp seems to be the region where stock internal components start failing, but alot of times its a hit or miss. 300whp can be obtained through many different setups however, whether it be 20+ PSI with a tiny turbo or 7psi on a big turbo. PSI isnt the issue, power is.

Like I said before, some knowledgeable people took their time to write up articles with detailed explanations, diagrams, and pictures. It would be a shame if they didnt get put to use.

^^ ditto. I can see where some people are plain lazy and don't want to search for the info, but there are just some who don't know where to start.

people are always saying stuff about reliability issues with turbo hondas, I disagree. you don't have to spend a wad on brand name parts to have quality and reliability. Most important factors are patience, knowledge, and comprehension of the knowledge.

good luck to OP, there's lots of good people on here to go to for help, understand your questions and be courteous.

Go on amazon... buy a book called Maximum Boost by Corky Bell and read it. There is alot of good information in there. Then just research other people builds on here and honda-tech. Gotta crawl before you can walk, people dont like to just hand feed information to people.
