ok so the passenger side was tight as hell up against the night the outer tie rod spun way too much.... when we got it out and looked at the joint.... it was messed up grease splooged all over the place and what not.... oh yeah BTW i just got home driving my car like a freaking champ all the while it was pulling all over the damn right side of the road.... kept it in my lane and on the road all the way from happy chef in mankato to oakdale.... even got pulled over....
but yes ryan drivers side has way too much play and it turns too much when you grab it locked into the assembly.... so needless to say tomorrow no work for me and anyone that can come help it would be greatly appreciated..... please for hte love of god help i beg of you

So its not the inner rods but the otter rods connecting to the knuckle?

yeah she did man... and we got the passenger inner and outter replaced ..... as they were both shot.... now the drivers side is shot.... not sure what caused it... prolly from driving on it... but who knows... and yeah im replacing driver side innner and outter as well.... but here is my question why would the damn thing all of a sudden jerk to the right.... and then keep jerking in a pulsing way.... until i A) give it enough gas to steady it or B) let off gas and throw her in neutral.

ok i will try to explain.... when you look at the tie rod from behind the wheel facing front of car.... the outter rod twists a totoal of almost 180 degrees while attached to the knuckle.... if i were to completely twist the outter from the inner i would be able to completelty spin the inner tie rod with no effort or force needed... i was thinking what would be making it jerk that bad tho

ok so after doing some research i believe my problem is the driver side tie rod as well... along with needing an alignment.... but the fact still remains imma need a good amount of help to replace the driver side tie rod.... so if anyone has the experience let me know so i can get it replaced... i have the rest of today open and then monday after 6 and all day tuesday and wednesday... along with doing my oil pan gasket as well to take care of the small oil leak on the oil pan...

Make sure to use the lock washers on the inner tie rods. Forgot to do it once and it came loose.

yeah the lock washers that came with the inner tie rod right?... it looks like a regualr washer with two raised tabs that you just screw on? thats what im doing im bout to leave and go get the parts right now... i really hate my car right now and am really thinking of selling it and getting a volkswagon tdi or something.... who knows i may have a change of heart after tomorrow but maybe not...

why a tdi? gas mileage?

Because TDI's are the shit? :cat:

Not even joking.

thanks delsow because they are the shit.... not just mileage....

but again..... i was thinking maybe that is my problem....

but here i am thinking maybe my cv joint is shot too causing it to pull to the right that hard as well....

so seeing as how i have already replaced the right tie rods inner and outter imma replace left inner and outter tomorrow and then do a somewhat decent alignment test drive it get an alignment done.

if it still pulls imma end up doing the cv joint on the passengers side....

I had this problem and it was my CV joints wearing out!!! the boots were not ripped but what was happening was i had my car very slammed yo which is why i dont have my cars slammed yo and the grease inside the cv would get hot from all the friction and it would break down the grease and then it would start pulling and also start slowing my car down.. I drove from wu town to mankato and i had to pull over 4-5 times and let the cvs cool down. Later that night i snapped that axle.

yeah its the passenger side cv joint that is bad for sure... clicks when i make turns and i can hear it from the right side of the car... but both sides had shot tie rods... now its just the driver side that is shot... that is being replaced have the parts for it right now.... i am checking into finding a cv joint and more than likely replacing it tomorrow as well... we will see

aight so good news is the halfshaft was what was messed up... got it replaced... didnt touch the drivers side yet... did plugs and wires as well... and put in my strut tower bar... so for now we are all good... *knock on wood* but if the shit happens again we know what it is and how to put it back together pretty well....
