Is is bad to drive your vtec equipped car while your alternator is down? my alt went out 2 days ago.. I just drove my car home, after jumping it twice on the way, It was running really funny and i figured it might be bad to drive the car while there is no juice to electronically control the valves lol. am i just dumb? or is this really bad for my car that i didnt get it towed home?

No working alternator mean dead battery.

Should be fine, better hope the battery voltage doesn't drop to the point where it can't hold any relays closed.

-good, im glad you know what an alternator does.

my battery has been staying around 9-10 volts so I think it is fine. 13 when the car is being jumped/ running, 14 I think is the norm when the alt is charging it. I think I'm fine. I was just wondering if it was hard on my motor to drive without a working alternator. it seemed like my car was overheating and it was running funny, does vtec need an alternator to work properly?

vtec needs oil. and a signal. amongst other things.
not enough electrical power will effect your spark and pretty much all that will do is kill the car.
if you got an alternator i can help you put it in. throw a multimeter right on the alternator and see what it reads. i think its supposed to be 12.5 and battery should be at 13.5???
i could be wrong.
