I am! This is a Motor Trend article from April about it:

http://www.motortrend.com/features/auto_news/2009/112_0904_2011_honda_crz/index.html

I'm particularly pumped that despite its hybrid powertrain, they will be offering a manual. I really hope this thing lives up to the original - I might be picking one up as my first non-beater ;)

Should be CR-Y instead of Z but I still like the older one better.

a hybrid? I mean, I know they are trying to be green but a hybrid CRX? Why didn't they opt for a turbo diesel? Also, 2800 pounds? My goodness. The old CRX weighed next to nothing. I know with all the new safety BS it adds weight but 2800 pounds? Doesn't the new Si coupe also weigh 2800 pounds with a better engine and suspension?

For sure. I wish they would offer a non-hybrid version, but 2800 pounds, while heavy, is very light for a hybrid. I'll definitely be waiting for more detailed specifications before I get too excited, but I'm just glad that Honda made a conscious decision to try to appeal to us car guys. Whether they successfully carry through with it is the next test.

I don't know why everyone is so surprised that the CR-Z is a hybrid.
Everyone makes the CRX comparison, and then comments something along the lines of expecting awesome power:weight ratio.
The CRX was never a real insane sports car or anything. Hell all the models except for the Si hardly had 100HP at the wheels, and they were touted as a great car for fuel economy(specifically the HF, but DX as well). This is especially true in the states, where we never even saw a factory equipped B16 in them.

Should it be any surprise, then, that the newest incarnation be an econo box as well?
I say 'no'.
I suspect that they may have made the car mod friendly (at least I hope) with the intent to appeal to the aftermarket crowd.

Also, I've heard some pretty good things about off the line torque on the electric powertrains, and some impressive 0-60 numbers.
Maybe this thing will end up surprising everyone ;)

That's actually not too bad looking considering. I'm excited to see the actual numbers for this and to see one in person.

well its not the saftey aspect its the battery pack that operates the hybrid system and also the electric motor, and not to mention the huge amount of wire thats ran through the the car. Take the battery pack that weights prolly anywhere from 500 to 800 lbs the electric motor which weighs like 300-400 lbs and the extra wiring 100-200 lbs.
take all that out and its prolly pretty damn light.
EX: Gm made 500 electric S-10 pickups extended cab and those mid size trucks weight over 5500lbs just a s-10 with a huge battery pack/ transformer and electric motor. No IC engine

i am not happy with the idea. Its best left as a 80's and early 90's car.

and i believe the crx was an insanely performing sprts car, for it's time that is. if the crx siR was offered in the states it would have been one of a few 2100 lb cars with 160hp offered at that time. of course the crx si that we got was crap lol.

i like it. but drop a k24 in it, she'll really scoot then!
my 2006 si 2 dr 3825 lbs. 2050 front 1775 rear, with the HPF kit though. they needed to see jenny craig or something when they produced these, way to heavy. should of been around 3k lbs, would be a lot faster then

Dealers already have the VIN's in the system. It's confirmed as a 2011 model.

^wikipedia says the weight for that generation is 2600, it seems a little low to me, but 3825 is way to high; thats almost as much as our trucks weight
