got her in and everything is hooked up. double checked all wiring. she's running but cylinders 3 and 4 don't get as hot as 1 and 2. you can actually put your hand on it for more than a second and it won't burn. checked injectors and plugs for ohm/voltage..all good. checked timing, etc., and all that i can think of. seems like everything is in right order. engine was running fine before. its an obd1 b16a in a 95 civic ex. it revs and vtec kicks. don't know what the problem is. maybe compression, purge, not sure. running on chrome chipped p28.

Well if it's a obd1 b16a everything should just be plug and play for your harness, but from what I am reading you're having problems with cylinders 3 and 4 not being as hot.
Good news is that since they are "WARM" you are getting some kind of combustion in there.
Here are the steps I would recommend you take:
1. Check your spark plugs, test 3/4 with 1/2 and see if there is a difference.
2. Check to make sure you have combustion going in there, since you mention it does get hot i am assuming there is a little going around.
3. Never hurts to test your distributor as well.
4. Check your head gasket, you could just simply be losing compression.

thanks for the help but we got the problem solved. it wasn't anything but a faulty ecu. my brother was sure the ecu he got with the car was functional, but it turned out not to be. we borrowed a p72 from a friend and the car ran flawless.
