KAIZENSPEED’s new H22 Timing Tensioner directly replaces the stock H22 auto tensioner and eliminates the annoying H23 manual tensioner conversion.
The stock H22 automatic tensioner, also called a hydro tensioner is known for premature failure, causing bent valves at the least.
The H22 Timing Tensioner eliminates the need for an H23 manual tensioner conversion. Instead of spending your time reading how-to articles, this tensioner allows you to simply remove two bolts and replace your failed tensioner with one that can never fail!
Never use H23 manual tensioner conversion parts again!
For nearly a decade now, all of us H22 guys have had the problem of failed auto/hydro timing belt tensioners. I’ve seen the stock H22 auto tensioner fail more times than I can count. Brand new, OEM tensioners often fail in a matter of months, leaving you dead in the water with bent valves.
In the old days, we would use the H23 manual tensioner parts, which had a host of annoyances. Installation was time consuming and there are a lot of little parts involved in the conversion. The H23 tensioner spring can come off it’s post and get chewed up by the timing belt. And most importantly the H23 tensioner pulley was larger which made installing the timing belt a real pain! CNC machined from billet aluminum with a hardened tension rod and jam nut. The custom-made adjustment wrench included with each tensioner makes for an easy, five minute installation during a timing belt change.
Price: $99.95

Its a pretty neat piece though. If I didn't have 2 h23 conversions, I would have did this. But a waste of money to try to convert back. The timing belt is cake to put on and I never use those silly springs anyways.

Yeah, its only if you haven't done the H23 manual tensioner conv. Otherwise, this would be a good piece of mind to have.

KAIZENSPEED H22 Timing Tensioner - $99.95 (http://www.kstuned.com/detail.src?SKU=Kai-H22TT&C=&Sub=&NM=)
Can you keep your timing cover?

My biggest point - If my h23 conversion is working and I did it, there is a huge amount of people that should be able to do it, I did struggle step with it though but eventually figured it out, actually I did hate it, it was dumb.

shipping is free? The point here is its easier to just buy this unit if you had an auto tensioner. Remove the old one, throw this in. Done. No need to remove all other things.

I don't think shipping is free, maybe $100 orders are shipped free, buy some spark plugs ;)
I thought the conversion could be done on the cheap though if you get the right block, its if you start with a bare block it costs more to do the conversion, so technically you could just order a few parts from honda and it costs $40-60, lot less than $100

When I did my H23 manual tensioner conv, I used half of the misc from my F22 block and had to ordered couple more things from the H23 which is helluva steal when I can cross reference the part numbers.
I have a helluva time getting my t-belt on if I take it off running the H23 manual conv. So with this new developed piece, everything can go on with ease; no more struggle for hours! Trust me, it sucks especially with aftermarket cam gears, it won't line up easy. But that doesn't mean I'm switching it over.

why you have to use half of the misc from you f22? i thought the h23 manual conversion was a complete kit?

Because, I didn't buy the H23 manual tensioner conv kit.
I did my researched and found out that some of what the H23 uses is what the F22 has. So, having like two F22 engine sitting back in the day, I decided to cross reference the part numbers between the F22 and H23 knowing that they both are manual tensioner; spring loaded. So on mine, half came from my old F22 while I just ordered the H23 parts I don't have. Simple and did save me a ton w/o having to buy the H23 manual conv kit.

I'm not going to. H22 timing tensioner itself is hella expensive. I don't have those parts anymore. Keeping it H23 manual.
