So I finally dove into what is going to be a long project. At this point I'm still unclear what exactly I want to do with her but for right now its rust repair and getting the body back to as close to factory as I can.

I never posted pics when I came to MNH so here are a few I shot last sat before I started tearing it apart

So after I started going at it I made some good progress. Found alot more rust but I kinda expected that

Rusty but not impossible. Now all day I had been geting this faint smell of gas in my garage. I figured it was just from the engine being so old and effed up so I didnt put to much stock into to it, untill I started on the rocker pannel moldings and found expanda foam on the driverside floor near the clutch pedal. Pulled that off and started diging deeper and found this

Fuel feed line rusted out bad..... This too is not impossible but i have to pull the dash out now and figure out if there is some kind of connector or if I have to take the line off from the filter in the firewall. Plus fix the hold in the floor.

Ill keep updating this post but I really only have weekends to put in wrench time on her so its gonna be a slow moving and (with my luck) an expensive project.

Been there. Exactly there in fact. Hope you have a hundred or so hours to fix the structural rust in that chassis. Pulling the side rocker covers you will find about 70% of the original metal....all necessary parts of the car structure. No one makes any patch panels that are a direct fit. EF rocker patch panels will work with three or four hours of fabrication each. EF fender patches work poorly in my opinion. At least most of the work will be covered with the plastics so it does not need to be very pretty.

I do wish you good luck. I abandoned my first red 86 si shell after about 60 hours of work with at least 40 hours more to go, just to get the car solid. The only thing that saved my project was an Arizona shell that I found locally.

BTW I've got an awesome technique for repairing the cracked plastic parts. I'd be happy to show you first hand if you'd like.
