I'm trying to remove my upper control arm on my integra. I removed all the nuts holding it in place but when I try to push the uca up to get it free. The ball joint bolt is stuck. I have read online about people using a ball joint separator. I know I'm gonna need to use a tool to get it out just wondering what someone else has used.

A pickle fork will work but most likely tear the ball joint. What I sometimes do is take off the castle nut and find another nut to put on it and give it a few good pounds and it usually comes off nicely.

I that the fork was for the lower balljoint..?
The one you need is actually the puller type of tool.... called balljoint puller. You can rent them all at autozone for free.

Hmmm I'm not worried about tearing the ball joint. Have a new on the camber kit

oh well than use my trick and beat away at the castle nut. It works great.keep it on half way so it just gets loosened up.

Bang the shit out of the knuckle part with a hammer, works every time for me. If that doesn't work rent a separator from a parts store

All you need is a hammer, don't buy/rent a "special" tool.

This is the tool I used to break every ball joints loose with ease. Mine doesn't look exactly the same, but very very similar to this. Works every f*cking time:

Otherwise, all you need is a Ball Peen Hammer and pound on the front knuckle arm where the ball joint goes in to break the tensions loose.

i dont that tool will work.... its a very tight space i would think that the top part of the bolt on that tool would be hitting the top of the wheel well.... but i guess ill try hammering it out next time.

+1 this has saved me a TON of times from destroying the boot on good ball joints.

I have to separate ball joints DAILY at work. I do not even have a pickle fork in my tool box. I've used a fork once in the last few years and that was on a F350 Dually.

There is a flat spot in the knuckle part, just pound on it with a BFH and it will fall apart for you!
