I already started a thread in this section about the troubles I've been having with my wife's new '91 Accord LX, but I don't know how well that thread would apply to the topic of this one. In short: The more people I talk to, the more it sounds like my head gasket needs to be replaced. If this turns out to be the case (I'm getting it pressure tested tomorrow), does anyone here have a suggestion on where to go to get the work done in the Twin Cities? It's a bit above my skill level and I don't have the facilities for it, but the quotes I've been hearing are in the $1200 range. That's $100 more than we paid for the f***ing car! I'm going to try to get some money out of the previous owner, but I still need to find somewhere cheap. If I can't find anything better than $1200, I might just have to put my own engine swap on hold and upgrade hers for right around the same price.
Any suggestions on cheap, quality shops would be greatly appreciated.

Contact Bakeoff. He should be able to do it for you. What motor do you have?

1200 for an headgasket job holy crap I'm in the wrong business, unless they are talking about a complete overhaul. If you just need head gasket done, I can get that done for you way less than that. 600 bucks I'll do it for you parts and labor. I'll have your head resurface and pressure test and cleaned to make sure nothing is bad, while at it I'll include water pump, timing belt and balance shaft belt for that price. But is the car worth fixing?

The engine is an F22a1.
Considering that we only got 3 days of use out of the car before it blew up, I would rather pay to get it fixed than to just flush the $1100 we paid for it and the $50 we paid to register it down the toilet. The body isn't exactly in perfect condition, but it's serviceable, and as I could tell from the test drive and the next couple of days of driving it, it's a great car. It just most likely had some shitty owners. All in all, I would say it is worth fixing. I just have a price limit. TurboSiR: you have a PM.
