View Full Version : Differing Axles per Trim Model (92 Accord) - HELP

My cousin is having one hell of a time figuring out what axle to use on his 92 accord. For some apparent reason, he thought his car was an LX and bought the axle from Autozone but the axle does not fit. He swapped it out for an SE model (because it resembled his old axle), but that also didn't fit.

Is there anyway of identifying the trim model (DX, LX, EX, SE) of this Accord using a Vin number or something?

Also, anyone know if there are differences between the axle based on trim model??

The car is a 5spd Accord sedan.

The car does have power locks, power windows, power steering - basically everything that an LX should/would have, but apparently the LX axle does not fit (according to him).

Thanks guys!

The car sounds like an LX. A DX would have a black front and rear bumper without any power window etc.
EX comes with a moonroof. SE doesn't come with 5spd so that's ruled out unless it was converted to manual.

I don't think there are any differences between the axles.
I currently have a lx passenger side axle on my SE and it fits in without any problem but I could be wrong.

Where is he having problem fitting the axle at? At the tranny?

the problem is at the tranny. Passenger side to be exact.

I thought it was an LX also.. the car of the color is charchoal with grey interior (since I know SOME Honda cars have a specific color scheme).

Can someone else confirm whether the axles are different or not?

LX, DX, EX, SE won't matter.

the difference are automatic and 5spd plus abs or non abs.

hope that help

What Kouzie said is how it is. At least thats the way its been on other cars that I've worked on with varying trim levels. But what 90_Accord_LX said also has merit cause I've ran into mix-matched part numbers as well. Maybe try to look it up and verify it.
